MHA requests president for prosecution sanction against AAP leader Satyendar Jain

NEW DELHI: The Union dwelling ministry has requested the president for grant of sanction to prosecute AAP chief and former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain in a money-laundering case being investigated by the ED, sources stated on Friday. The sanction towards the 60-year-old politician has been sought underneath Part 218 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, they stated.
The ministry requested the sanction from the president of India on the idea of an Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation and the presence of “satisfactory proof”, they added.
The federal company booked Jain in a money-laundering case linked to alleged hawala dealings and arrested him in Might 2022.
Jain held the well being, energy and some different portfolios when he was taken into ED custody.
He’s at the moment out on bail and has been charge-sheeted by the ED.
The cash-laundering case stems from an August 2017 FIR filed towards Jain and others by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on costs of alleged possession of disproportionate belongings.
The CBI filed a chargesheet in December 2018, stating that the alleged disproportionate belongings have been to the tune of Rs 1.47 crore, about 217 per cent greater than Jain’s identified sources of earnings throughout 2015-17.
The ED had earlier stated its probe discovered that “throughout 2015-16, Satyendar Jain was a public servant and 4 corporations (beneficially owned and managed by him) acquired lodging entries (hawala) to the tune of Rs 4.81 crore from shell (bogus) corporations towards money transferred to Kolkata-based entry operators via the hawala route”.
“These quantities have been utilised for direct buy of agricultural land or for the reimbursement of mortgage taken for buy of agricultural land in and round Delhi,” the company had stated.
Former Delhi chief minister and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal had earlier defended Jain, saying he was as a “hardcore trustworthy and patriot” one that was being framed in a “false case”.
